Climate change is negatively affecting milk production

Climate change is reducing milk production, scientists said following a study published in the journal Science Advances. Cows experience heat stress already at a temperature of 26 degrees - they begin to feel worse. Milk yields from such animals decrease.
Extreme heat reduces the milk yield of cows by 10% even with the use of air conditioners. And if it lasts for more than a week, the losses reach 25%.
In general, scientists predict that if current trends continue, by 2050, the production of milk and dairy products could fall by 4% or more. Brazil, India and Pakistan, which are key suppliers of milk to the world market and are increasingly faced with rising temperatures and heat, will be particularly affected by this.
Scientists are calling for adaptation measures (in particular, the development of more "heat-resistant" breeds of cows), as well as for strengthening measures to combat climate change, because we are talking about one of the most critical food products.
